What is Evangelism?

I've been thinking about this question a lot lately...

What is evangelism?

Is it shouting, "Where are you going when you leave this earth?? REPENT NOW!" from street corners?
Is it handing out 'tracts' and decision cards to people you don't know?
Is it a 'dirty word' to those whose denominations don't use it often?
Is it a passion for those who grew up in traditions which faithfully carried evangelism out?
Is it missionary zeal, purpose, or activity? (thanks, dictionary.com)
Is it preaching the Gospel?
Is it sharing the love of Christ with others through fellowship?
Is it building relationships based upon God's love?
Is it attending a city council meeting?
Is it being involved in your community's neighborhood improvement plan?
Is it taking an active part in improving education for the present and future children of our country?
Is it sharing a meal with someone who hasn't eaten lately?
Is it going to a teenager's football game & cheering him on?
Is it going to a tween's poetry slam session & clapping the loudest when her name is called?
Is it washing your friend's clothes when she doesn't have time to do it herself?
Is it picking up your friend's son from school when daddy got tied up in a meeting?

What is evangelism?
To me, evangelism can be all of the above & more (least likely for me the tract and decision card option).  Most simply, I view evangelism as simply loving others; forming relationships with God's children, no matter where they come from, what language they speak, or what music they listen to; evangelism is LOVE; evangelism is BEING CHRIST.

When I lay my head on my pillow tonight, maybe I'll ask myself this question: "Who did I evangelize to today?" "Was I CHRIST to someone today?"
